Discovery Lab
Discovery Lab is a PTA program designed to educate students on a variety of scientific topics using a hands-on approach. Each grade has 2 to 3 labs per year. The labs are determined by the curriculum of the grade and every attempt is made to schedule labs during the grade level’s related science unit. The labs are designed to enhance curriculum learning.

Each lab requires 4 station volunteers and a lab leader. No experience or science background is required for the parent volunteers. Parent volunteers are asked to arrive at the Discovery Lab 20-30 minutes prior to the lab time to become familiar with their station. The labs are already set up when parents arrive. Each lab lasts approximately 1 hour. For parents who volunteer to be Lab Leaders, the additional commitment includes explaining the lab topic and being familiar with the main concepts in the lab so they can be introduced to the students. Please look under your child’s grade level for lab dates, labs, and lab leader procedures.
