The Ways and Means Committee is the fundraising arm of the PTA. Funds for all the PTA programs and events must be utilized for curriculum enrichment programs during this school year. The funds are generated by three entities: the Boosterthon Fun Run, the Fall Carnival and the Business Partners Program. The Business Partners program works to not only to promote local businesses through our school, it also organizes events which benefit our Business Partners and create additional proceeds for the PTA. The committee also searches out and applies for funds through our Grands Writing Committee.
Boosterthon
On September 18th, we had our Boosterthon Fun Run in the gymnasium. Despite the dreary weather outside, the kids were excited to run for their school and had a blast doing it inside! This year’s Boosterthon, our primary PTA fundraiser, raised over $82,000 for our school which will go to funding programs such as Art Edventures, Discovery Lab, and other curriculum enrichment programs– all thanks to the generosity of our SHE families! We are still in the process of collecting even more pledges for our school, so if you have not sent in your donation, it is not too late! Because our kids were able to obtain pledges from all 50 United States and fulfill the Principal’s Challenge, our principals will have to dress up in costumes for the day! We also had a cool pretzel party for the highest collection class per grade level–the big yummy soft pretzels! Way to go, Huskies!
A special thank you to our co-chairs of Boosterthon, Sharon Leemann and Tammy Hlebec, for an awesome job communicating to parents and teachers, streamlining volunteers, and ensuring that everyone involved had a great time! The parent volunteers were a tremendous help on every level–many thanks. Also thank you to the entire staff at SHE for supporting our efforts with unbelievable enthusiasm and excitement! This could not have been such a success without any of you!
Fall Carnival
Thanks to all of you, SHE’s 2009 Fall Carnival was a big success! Thank you, thank you, thank you to ALL who helped envision, plan and execute this major event. It was a joy to walk around the school and see all of the new and old families blending, visiting and laughing together. Everything ran smoothly and it could not have been possible without the cheerful army of volunteers who braved the cold wind and kept smiles on their faces. The SHE staff was wonderful as always——helpful, willing to participate and patiently rolling with all of the last minute changes to our site plan. Even the finicky weather gave us a break so we could enjoy sunshine on carnival day. SHE families came out in large numbers to fill all of the volunteer spots, donate generously to the basket raffle, enjoy the carnival and support our school. GO HUSKIES!!!
As we wrap up this year’s carnival and look ahead to next year’s planning, feedback would be most helpful. There are always ways in which we can improve our event and any suggestions or input would be welcome. Please email Katie VanBrackle: brackle@bellsouth.net. Thanks again, everyone!!
